We couldn't agree with you less!

Frank Godon has left a new comment on your post, "Was due diligence exercised?"

Clare,

The problem in question isn't Mr. Deslauriers past performance concerning his credit. If LRCC didn't do their homework that's their tough luck. The problem in question is the way Mr. Deslauriers was released from the MMF Board. Who really cares if he had bad credit or even if he had any criminal charges against him in the past? The people who elected him to the MMF Board probably knew all this. You need to look at Mr. Deslauriers as someone to help you in your fight against the MMF not alienate him.

Dear Mr. Godon:

Thank you for writing. We couldn't agree with you less. Here's why:

(1) If the people who elected Mr. Deslauriers to the MMF Board knew about his past but voted for him anyway, what does that say about their desire for good governance? Isn't past behaviour an accurate predictor of future performance? Why do you think so many employment interviews these days are behavioural based?

(2) We don't need friends like Mr. Delauriers. Who stands as a Plaintiff against www.CyberSmokeSignals.com in a lawsuit for alleged defamation - a site which tried to inform Manitoba's Metis citizens of the excesses of its current leadership? Isn't that exactly what he's now doing using www.derrylsanderson.blogspot.com as his sounding board? Further, who continues to have his legal fees paid by the MMF using taxpayer dollars in said action?

(3) And yes, it does matter if LRCC didn't do its homework on his loan. How many other times has this happened?

(4) Unbeknownst to you there is another thick court file on Mr. Deslauriers which is completely unrelated to his problems with Small Claims Court and The Louis Riel Capital Corporation. Suffice it to say (for now) it certainly doesn't cast him in a positive light!

That kind of help we don't need!

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
