We heard from a Member of Parliament is there an election?

Hello Don and Clare,

Thank you for your interest in this issue. My family does have Métis Scrip and we have a strong Aboriginal connection throughout our genealogy. I have been a member of the MMF for many years and I am a member of Conseil Elzéar-Goulet.

I am very proud to be the only Métis woman in government and I hope one day there will be many more.

The Conservative government worked to address land claims, the residential schools legacy, drinking water on reserves, accountability among chiefs and many other issues of importance to Aboriginals that were long ignored by previous governments.

I hope I am able to continue this good work going forward.

Kind Regards,
Shelly Glover

Good Day Readers:

One of our Readers sent us the question regarding Ms Glover's heritage which we subsequently posted and forwarded to her. Here's your answer Don@kaynuk.

As some may know we're conducting a highly scientific, sophisticated rolling poll for the Saint Boniface, Manitoba Riding. Using the most advanced statistical analysis and calculus our results are projected to be accurate 347 out of 354 times plus or minus 3%. One point is assigned to each candidate for everything from advertising on the side of garbage receptacles, to lawn signs to flyers delivered in the mail. The Liberal challenger is former incumbent Mr. Raymond Simard. We have not seen or heard anything from the Green Party or NDP.

It's going to be close. The official count at time of writing is Monsieur Simard 14 points versus Ms Glover with 9. However, she will be assigned another point for responding to our Reader's question closing the gap even more.

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

You have been most kind in your assistance about determinating Ms. Glover's 'claimed' Metis status, and I am in your debt.

I'm not particularly happy that she appears to have self appointed herself to publicly speak on behalf of Metis people, and can assure you that I do not agree with, or appreciate her efforts in that regard.

Once again, thank you for your help.

Don
