Cute, real cute!
Dear Ms Asper:
Ever wonder why voter turnout is so low especially among our younger citizens? Beyond their obvious obsession with texting, could it possibly be those who even bother to watch the partisan, petty politics and antics of their Members of Parliament, that is if they're in attendance during Question Period, causes them to disengage? Ditto for the Provincial Legislature? Maybe there's a reason it's not called Answer Period.
Or what about a seriously flawed electoral system which allows a federal Party to gain majority status with a minority of votes? Could this not also happen in Manitoba?
Then again perhaps its their elected representatives who pander before the microphones and television cameras seeking votes during a campaign only to become overly focused on their political careers forgetting who elected them in the first place?
So you see Ms Asper, we hope your next rant will be about the need for serious electoral reform at all levels of government that will increase voter turnout not just for the young but everyone.
Finally, increasing ballots cast is only half the equation the other being a more informed electorate which only the individual can control.
Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
