"Frankly, it doesn't change the price of cocoa"
Good Day Readers:
Perhaps a few comments are in order:
(1) The young lady pictured with Alex Chapman is an articling student assisting lawyer Rocco Galati who's representing Alex Chapman
(2) Sarah Whitmore is an Associate with Torys LLP (Toronto). Her legal fees along with those of Sheila Block and Molly Reynolds are paid by - you guessed it - taxpayers
(3) Parallel articles to that of Ms Blatchford's currently appear in The Globe and Mail, as well as, The Winnipeg Free Press. All information contained therein previously occurred at the Douglas Inquiry. It was either not reported or under reported by the MSM (Main Stream Media). Now that it appears in black print (affidavit) it is receiving widespread attention.
(4) An affiant can be cross-examined in court
(5) It might be worth remembering at this point until any and all allegations contained in Ms Whitmore's affidavit have been heard in the Federal Court of Canada technically they remain just that allegations
Today CyberSmokeBlog will be undertaking on site research at the Federal Court of Canada (Winnipeg) and the Provincial Law Courts Building on matters related to the Douglas Inquiry. Hope to have more to say a little later.
Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
Christie Blatchchford: Manitoba judge's accuser no sexual wallflower, but inquiry astonishgly refused to hear about
Monday, September 17, 2012
When a fellow complains about the injury to his dignity as a result of
unwanted sexual attention, it’s hard to imagine anything that might be more
relevant to the truth of that claim than information starkly to the contrary
being found on his computer.
Yet that’s precisely the evidence the Canadian Judicial Council inquiry that is probing the conduct of Manitoba Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas refused to hear.
conduct of Manitoba Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas refused to hear.
More astonishing, it now appears that the five-member panel not only refused to consider this evidence about Alex Chapman, whose complaint against the judge is the driving force behind the inquiry, but also allegedly tried to protect him from harsh questioning while he was testifying.
That is the new fillip to this convoluted story — that early on during Mr. Chapman’s examination last July by Kirsten Crain, one of the so-called “independent counsel,” the panel was concerned she was being “too aggressive in her questioning” and wanted her to “tone it down.”
The panel is composed of three judges and two lawyers, its chair Alberta Chief Justice Catherine Fraser.
