Time for a petition - again?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post, "Court ordered publication bans? Why Justice Lori Douglas should resign!"

Good Day Mr. Pieuk!

Further proof that the internet never forgets! This scandal will never go away, and nor should it! Lori Douglas continues to get her exorbinent paycheque compliments of the Manitoba taxpayer, while waiting to hear from the Canadian Judicial Council investigation on her status as a Judge, paid for again by the taxpayer.

Considering that we are footing the bill for her lifestyle and investigation, the taxpayers should have more say in whether or not she keeps her job.

You should start a letter writing campaign or petition calling for her resignation, and have it delivered to the Minister of Justice with much fanfair and media attention.

Since she does not have the moral fortitude and professional ethics to do the right thing, and continues to milk the proverbial cow, then she deserves to have her indescretions bandied about on the internet.

As each day passes without her resignation, I have less and less sympathy for her and more and more contempt for her conduct.

She may have once been a good lawyer and judge - now she is just another "wannabe" porn queen and her 15 minutes of fame are an embarassment to Manitobans and the judicary, and an offence to taxpayers.

I, for one, am tired of her elitist welfare status and would happily sign a petition calling for her resignation!

Dear VJH:
As always thank you for taking the time to write.
As we read the online Above the Law article about Lori Douglas we found ourselves vacillating between anger and embarrassment. It was as though the Americans were laughing at us not that we haven't given them good cause.
We support the notion of a petition. To that end this site is prepared to post it, collect names and compile the master list for delivery to Manitoba's Minister of Justice. It should be prepared by a lawyer to ensure it does not contain anything even remotely defamatory. This is necessary to prevent taxpayer financed lawyers, such as Manitoba Metis Federation attorney Murray Trachtenberg, from using it as an excuse to build a legal career.
Your analogy is spot on. It's as though the government has summarily brushed aside taxpayers who pay the bills to tell them, "What do you know we know best." It invites the question whether the Canadian Judicial Council and Minister Andrew Swan fully appreciate the concept of jury nullification. The way juries view situations is not necessary the same as that of judges and lawyers. So too with taxpayers. This judiciary embarrassment has been allowed to go on for far too long time to end it - now!
So where does that leave us? If a lawyer(s) prepare a petition CyberSmokeBlog will post it. Those who support it can simply send us their name, address, telephone number and e-mail address for verification purposes not by us but rather the Minister of Justice's Office should it so choose.
For our part we will undertake to compile the master list and deliver it to the Minister. The name(s) of those who prepared the petition will only be revealed to the Justice Minister and only if requested. In the alternative you may not wish to share that information with us which is fine. However, we will guarantee the sole person to see the master list of signatories will be Mr. Swan. From time to time we might reveal numbers collected but that's it!
Do we have a deal VJH?
Sincerely/Clare L. Pieuk
Addendum: Since this posting appeared a few minutes ago a lawyer has already anonymously come forward with an offer to critique any petition that's tendered.

We have been advised by a senior Law Society of Manitoba official on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. the disciplinary hearing for Jack King of Team Douglas-King-Chapman will take place at the LSM offices. We plan to attend in our capacity as a citizen journalist/blogger. These proceedings are normally open to the public, however, we are mindful there's a provision embedded somewhere within The Legal Profession Act (6-pages encompassing 110 provisions most with multiple subclauses) which govern the The Society's operations allowing it to go in-camera. Should that happen it will be reported.

"Enemy to those who make him an enemy ..... Friend to those who have no friend - that's Blackie!"

And don't forget on April 19, 2011 again at 9:30 a.m. there will be a hearing for our beloved Blackie to hear his motion to have LSM appointed prosecutor (David M. Skwark - FillmoreRiley) recused for a possible conflict of interest.

Mr. Pieuk,

Ask and ye shall recieve...

Since you are game to compile the names and submit the petition, I think the least I could do is draft the petition.

However, as it takes an Act of Parliament to remove a Queen's Bench judge, the Petition needs to be submitted to The Honorable Minister of Justice, Mr. Ron Nicholson, not Mr. Swan.

Feel free to submit this draft to counsel for review, though I think you should refrain from publishing it's content until it has received approval.

Continuing to seek...

PETITION TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

• Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, knew or ought to have known pornographic photographs of herself were the subject of a Confidential Settlement Agreement between her husband, Jack A. King and his client, Alexander L.Q. Chapman duly executed in 2003, prior to her appointment to the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench in 2005.

• Pornographic photographs of Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, have been published on the internet and are currently in the public domain.
