The owl and grasshopper have spoken!

Good Day Readers:

Recently Legal Affairs Contributor VJH took us up on a suggestion to draft a petition calling for Associate Chief Justice (Manitoba Queen's Bench) Lori Douglas to resign over the Douglas-King-Chapman sexcapade. In return, we offered the site to organize and promote it. VJH then recommended the document be vetted by consel prior to its publication.

So we consulted with senior counsel ("The Owl') and junior counsel ("Grasshopper"). The former noted we should first try to gauge support for the petition before committing to sending it to the federal Minister of Justice. The only way we could see of doing this is to post it then ask for readers to comment.

Grasshopper was of the view as long as the petition's content is accurate, which we believe it is, defamation should not be an issue.

As part of the "pre-launch" we're prepared to e-mail a copy to media outlets. When a document, or part thereof, is sealed by court order an automatic mechanism is triggered whereby news outlets must be advised. Thanks to a Crown Prosecutor back in the days when a pre-trial judge was trying to decide whether to expunge part of our infamous "9-11 Affidavit" in the Manitoba Metis Federation's Canadian taxpayer financed lawsuit against a website (so called because it was sworn September 11, 2009) or order portions sealed, we obtained a list of co-ordinates for the 101 media outlets throughout the province officially notified. For our part we remain ready to e-mail a copy to any or all plus anyone else suggested.

PETITION TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

We, the undersigned residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House of Commons to the following:

THAT

• Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, knew or ought to have known that pornographic photographs of herself exist.

• Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, knew or ought to have known pornographic photographs of herself were the subject of a Confidential Settlement Agreement between her husband, Jack A. King and his client, Alexander L.Q. Chapman duly executed in 2003, prior to her appointment to the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench in 2005.

• Pornographic photographs of Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, have been published on the internet and are currently in the public domain.

• The pornographic photographs on the internet clearly show the face, naked breasts, genitalia and anus of Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench while in bondage, wearing a collar and/or chains, handcuffs, strapped down spread eagle on a bed, naked outdoors, and urinating outdoors.

• We believe the existence and subsequent publishing of pornographic photographs of a sitting justice constitutes gross misconduct and lapse in judgment by Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas, Associate Chief Justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench and these pornographic photographs have damaged the integrity inherent in the position of a justice of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench such that our confidence in the judiciary has been shaken.

THEREFORE your petitioners request the House of Commons call for the immediate resignation and/or removal of Madam Justice A. Lori Douglas by the Governor General in Council from the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench pursuant to Sec. 71 of the Judges Act (R.S., 1985, c.J-1).
