Saint Boniface, Manitoba election update - it's a tie!

Good Day Readers:

As you know we're conducting a highly sophisticated, scientific rolling poll in our Riding - accurate plus or minus 3 percent 347 times out of 361 whatever that means? One point is assigned for everything from advertising on the side of garbage receptacles (How apropos!) to lawn signs, telephone messages - whatever.

The Conservative incumbent is ex-Winnipeg Police Officer Shelly Glover who comes with an expiry date of May 3, 2011. For the Liberals it's Raymond Simard loser to Ms Glover in 2008 who promptly took over his Constituency Office on St. Mary's Road next to landmark restaurant The Red Top.
On our walks throughout the riding we have seen no advertising for the NDP or Green Party. For much of its history St. Boniface has been held by the Liberals (74 of 86 years).

As fate would have it today we received flyers for both the Conservative and Liberal candidates. In her's Shelly Glover went on about how the Conservatives have passed laws cracking down on car thieves, violent/repeat offenders and gun/gang crime - that was it. Conspiciously missing was anything about getting tough on ethical-integrity breaches by the Prime Minister and his Office, contempt of parliament, meaningful senate reform, misquoting the country's Auditor General, etc., etc., etc.

For his part, Mr. Simard touted family care, support for higher education, a more financially secure retirement for seniors plus a $400 million green renovation tax credit program. More money appears to have been spent on challenger Simard's flyer - longer, more detailed.

This brings the point total for each candidate to 5. Neither or their representatives have yet come knocking at our door. Hopefully, Ms Glover will send Senator Mike Duffy to visit so we can tell him exactly what we think of Mr. Harper's senate appointments, as well as, his government's misuse of this institution.

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

P. S. BTW, thankfully the frog escaped Ms Glover's clutches - she wasn't fast enough!
