Can you help solve a mystery?

Tansi/Good Day Folks:

Last week we reported someone anonymously contacted CSB.blogspot.com claiming federal officials from the Offices of Canada's Auditor General, as well as, the Attorney General had visited MMF headquarters unannounced. "Crystal" then wrote on randydelaronde.blogspot.com:

"Apparently it is their annual meeting with all organizations funded federally. A reliable source says that it was not unannounced, it had been previously scheduled and it is routine. If I hear more I'll post."

Subsequently we were contacted by another unnamed source who offered the following in regard to Crystal's comments:

"The problem with her explanation is that the cleaning staff were asked to hurry up and clean a space for those people to work in. If it was a routine visit it would have been marked and a place would have been ready. They were asked for identification when they entered the building. Now does that sound routine? Oh well! Let them call it what they want."

What we didn't tell you when we broke the story was the federal officials wore photo identification and two of their auditors (we have names) were seen talking with an MMF headquarters employee. The question we have regarding Crystal's comments - given Ottawa funds hundreds and perhaps thousands of organizations, is it normal practice for federal officials to routinely visit each one annually? Seems to us that would involve a lot of time, effort and money.

So where does that leave us? We don't know- perhaps someone out there can provide further clarification to help solve a mystery.

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
