New features!

Tansi/Good Day Readers:

The next election may very well be decided on the internet. When Terry Belhumeur launched www.manitobametisfederation.com (May 6, 2000 - evolved into cybersmokesignals.com as you know it today), other than the Home Office's site it was the province's only Metis specific web page. Now there are at least eight:

derrylsanderson.blogspot.com
randydelaronde.blogspot.com
cybersmokesmokesignals.com
cybersmokesignalscanada.com
cybersmokesignalsinternational.com
dustmybroom.com/metisvoices.com*

The newest kid on the block is www.cybersmokeblog.blogspot.com. Recognizing how important the internet will be, we've started wiring our site. The latest feature can be found on the right-hand side of the main page. Click "Manitoba Legislature" under "EMAIL ADDRESSES - MLAS" to access particulars for your fifty-seven Members:

Name
Constituency
Party Affiliation
Telephone Number
Facsimile
E-mail Address
Surface Mail

Also, if you click on the world map (right side) which updates every twenty-four hours, you'll notice since yesterday we've added visitors from Mexico, South America, India and now mainland China. As many of you know, the Chinese government attempts to monitor and control what their people read on the internet. However, much like the current MMF leadership and their Chief Litigator Mr. Murray N. Trachtenberg are quickly finding out, you can't control a global communications network.

But it just keeps getting better. Within the past couple days we've registered with what's called the "Blog Flux Directory." Find the retangular orange and blue icon ("BF MAPSTATS" - lower right). Click on it to get more information about the location of our visitors. Hi: Selkirk; Brandon; Santa Clara, California; Richmond, Virgina; London, Onatrio (Probably my brother-in-law/sister!); New York, New Your; etc., etc., etc. The software is jam packed with features - I'm still playing with it.

In the days and weeks ahead, we'll be providing you with other key electronic linkages in preparation for the next Federation election.

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

We're only getting started. Now that we have a toe in mainland China the Soviet Union is next.

Recently it was reported (Globe And Mail) a young Russian blogger called President Putin a derogatory term associated with homosexuals. Guess what? It wasn't long before he received a visit from what used to be called the KGB under Stalin. Poor fellow got six months in Siberia - seriously.

Well Mr. President (No not you David!) we're on our way to Russia. Soon names like David Chartrand, the rest of the Plaintiffs and their learned Counsel Murray Trachtenberg will be household names in the global village. Shortly we'll have their pictures posted so you'll be able to see what the cast of characters looks like.

Any of you have friends, relatives or comrades in the Soviet Union? We're looking for people there to cover the MMF's upcoming election.
