Last week he went crying to David and a lawyer - not Murray Trachtenberg it was someone else - to see if anything could be done to stop you from displaying these judgments. Thank you for writing. The information you've seen so far is available to the public at the Provincial Law Courts Building (File Registry). But there's more, a lot more, much of it highly explosive. Suffice it to say for now he's been involved with the judicial system on numerous previous occasions.

Perhaps he should have thought of this when he agreed to become a Plaintiff in the defamation lawsuit against www.CyberSmokeSignals.com - what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Maybe he would have been well advised to check the facts of the case before rushing to judgment.

This situation raises a much bigger issue. What safeguards (e.g. obligatory criminal/civil record checks, disclosure of possible conflicts of interest, etc.), if any, are in place (MMF constitution or elsewhere) to pre-screen potential candidates before their names are allowed to stand on the ballot? The election bylaws are severely flawed!

A friend, who spoke with one of the Progressive Conservative candidates (Manitoba) in the last federal election, was telling me recently of the detailed, multi-page questionnaire they had to complete as part of the nomination process. Does the Manitoba Metis Federation have a similar pre-screening system for those it endorses to run for elected Office? Probably not.
