Rachel - have we got an aspiring poet for you!

Good Day Readers:
Rachel hosts this very artistic, delightful site from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. You've got to love her logo!
When we saw a poem Metis Mama at www.metisbarefacts.blogspot.com
recently published in her Comments Section by Anonymous we just had to tell Rachel. MM has been following a situation in which a small group appear to be trying to unseat Metis Nation of Alberta President Audrey Poitras. Here it is:
There once was a little man named Trevor
It turned out he wasn't so clever
He thought he had potential
But he was just detrimental
Now with no job, he is singing the blues
But I guess he can work at APTN news ...
Isn't that great Rachel maybe you should hire him?
Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk
P.S. Rachel, could you write us a little poem (rhyming couplets would be nice) about the 2010 Manitoba Metis Federation election in which David Chartrand will be running again for President? Good Luck!

Haha! Thanks for the tip Clare, and the challenge! I shall have to think about that... see if the upcoming election inspires me in the least. Hmm... And maybe you could take a crack at it, too.

Okay Clare, here ya go! :) Of course this is not about Mr. Chartrand, who I'm sure is nothing like the character in the poem, who I've never met in person, and who is most certainly an honest and ethical politician with no character flaws whatsoever. It's more about a comic-book type politician, an absurdity, who resembles nobody real at all.

Baby, baby, give me your vote
And please make it count, cause I’m starting to bloat
On the privilege of power, long accustomed
While those other guys, you really can’t trust’em

Lady, lady, this is my place
See how I sit in this throne with such grace?
If you help me retain it, I’ll make it worth your while
If they say ‘croneyism,’ I’ll innocently smile

Mister, mister, I need your support
So tell me what you want, but you’d better make it short
Cause after I’ve won this, once and for all
I might not remember ever meeting you at all.
