Footy sex woman bragged about conquests, says hotel owner
Saturday, May 16, 2009
Rugby league's group sex scandal has taken another dramatic new turn, with the woman's former employer claiming the night in question was not the first time she had been with football players.
It has been nearly a week since the Christchurch woman gave her harrowing account on Australian television, and the fall out has been massive.
The story has gone international and sponsors are pulling out or reconsidering their position with the club.
The owner of the Christchurch hotel at the time of the scandal has stepped forward to give his account. He claims hours before Sharks players took part in group sex, the young Christchurch woman involved told work mates she had had sex with two rugby players in a nightclub toilet the night before.
"She skited on about that and gloated to staff members about the great night she's had and the way she got them in the men's toilet and had a bit of fun with them," says John Butterfield.
Mr Butterfield says the young woman bragged about her involvement in both incidents for at least four days.
"She just did nothing but tell all the staff what a great night she had, and to put it quite crudely, that she had the whole team in bed with her."
In another twist, the woman's father and brother told an Australian network they had been reading about the scandal for days but had no idea it was their sister and daughter who was at the centre of the controversy. They are shocked and distraught and did not want to talk publicly.
The woman claimed up to 12 players were involved in the group sex.
Matthew Johns immediately admitted his part, and it was revealed yesterday Brett Firman and Paul Gallon also had some sort of involvement in the incident.
Today the name and shame continues, including Luke Branighan, who was said to be knocked back by the woman and consequently became the butt of jokes at training.
Daniel Ninness has admitted he went back to her home on the night of the incident but did not have sex with her.
Just who else was involved still is not clear.
"This is a man's game," says Paul Moreton, Rugby League Players' Association. "We expect men to behave like men and do as their conscience dictates."
Regardless of who was involved or did what, the fall out has been massive, and has made headlines around the world.
Sponsors are now pulling out, including Wendy Wu Tours, or they are reconsidering their position with the club.
