A pubic service announcement by MMF lawyer Murray Trachtenberg!
We are able to post Mr. Trachtenberg's letter because it does not violate the publication ban he requested, and unfortunately was granted, at the September 2008 Pre-Trial Conference in the Canadian taxpayer financed alleged defamation lawsuit against the now defunct www.CyberSmokeSignals.com. Under its terms, we cannot discuss the specifics of Case Management Meetings only the fact one was held and the date of the next.
This matter was mentioned at the August 21, 2009 Motion Hearing for Co-Defendants Belhumeur and Pieuk to amend their original Statements of Defence. Said proceeding was open to the public. The former was absent from the afternoon session having left for Quebec when the presiding Justice requested Counselor Trachtenberg contact us to confirm the September 14, 2009 date.
