MMF Election 2010 will be like no other!

Good Day Readers:

When we began blogging (Summer 2000) the term didn't exist. CyberSmokeSignals was the first Metis specific site, other than www.manitobametisfederation.com certainly in Manitoba and perhaps elsewhere. How ironic it's being sued today using taxpayer money!

Fast forward to January 2010. There is no comparison to the volume of information voters now have the potential to access. By making the first YouTube video, we believe Presidential Candidate Frank Godon has significantly shifted the election paradigm. Not only do challengers with very limited resourses have a virtually costless way of getting their message out but so do you the taxpaying voter.

We're following a case that illustrates this point. Yesterday someone contacted blogger (www.derrylsanderson.blogspot.com) and candidate (Winnipeg Region, Board of Directors) with:

Reddbird has left a new comment on your post, "MMF's Trip To Juno Beach, Normandy ..... My Perspective"

I would like to know why it is so hard to get Elders recognized by the Head Office? We have been petitioning executives to acknowledge one of our long term residents in St. Lazare who is a Veteran and sick. We have received no replies it's very frustrating. They make up so many excuses! Why is that? Does anyone know. We need more Elders.

Upon reading this our first reaction was make a YouTube video and post it on the internet ("Make and election video Reddbird!" - January 6, 2009). Literally within minutes following publication of Reddbird's e-mail in the Comments Section of the article,"Metis Vet Forgotten by MMF?" this appeared:

Please contact me at
frank@metisonline.ca concerning the Veteran I can help with this.

While it's great challengers are making videos, why can't taxpaying voters do the same with their questions and comments? Undoubtedly, Messrs. Godon and Sanderson would post them on their sites and we certainly would too. All we ask is they be in good taste.

Below is one of the better "how to" videos we were able to find. For those wishing to remain anonymous, there's always the brown paper bag over the head with holes cut out for eyes and mouth - that would be a real attention getter! Another option poor lighting (see below) so you'd be silhouetted and, therefore, difficult to identify - much like you see in some television interviews. Good Luck!

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

The Federation must be afraid of the real deal... what would they do with a the Metis elder if they were in the same room with them? Would they be able to look this elder in the eye? What answers would they give for not returing calls, addressing concerns?

Sure glad this elder and family contacted your site. Hope that clarifies decision making at election time.

ps. I personaly know of other elders not being treated justly from the current mmf.
