Digitally stalked by a velociraptor!

Michael Buble vs. the dinosaur

Mike Lacher has many images of Michael Bublé on his website. One his most recent posts is a photo of the Canadian crooner singing while figure skaters Kurt Browning and Brian Boitano dance nearby. But behind them, a menacing face watches from the bar. It's a velociraptor.

Lacher, a 25-year-old Chicago resident who does design and video production, created the website Michael Bublé Being Stalked by a Velociraptor a few weeks ago. Within a few days of its launch, it had received more than 30,000 hits.

Sometimes the dinosaur is watching Bublé from an overhead window. Sometimes it's playing an instrument while he performs on Saturday Night Live.

"I have no vendetta," Lacher said. "I know some people are rooting for or against the velociraptor. I saw on Twitter that someone hopes the velociraptor will catch him and maul him."

Will it?

"I don't know if the velociraptor really has it in him or not. There might be a sort of strange kinship that they're developing."

Lacher who listens to "indie-popish things like The New Pornographers" would not describe himself as a Bublé fan. "I saw him sing on TV once or twice. I couldn't name any of his songs," he said. But he's a fan of Jurassic Park.

"What I think is funny about it is that Michael Bublé always looks lonely and brooding in his photographs. He's in his car or a telephone booth or dressing rooms totally alone. So, instead of him being a lonely crooner, there's a Cretaceous monster stalking him."

A few days ago, Lacher started to accept user submissions so that he will not have to digitally alter photos of Bublé every day.

"For the 30 seconds to a minute that people spend on the site, I hope that it is enjoyable and entertaining."
