Good Day Readers:
Lets take a look at the numbers. According to a recent Winnipeg Free Press article (Former marine eyes top MMF job - Chartrand urges Metis to get out and vote - Also Santin June 4, 2010):

Factoring in the CBC's numbers:

3,352 = presidential votes for David Chartrand in 2010
892 = presidential votes lost by David Chartrand yesterday
21% = David Chartrand's drop in popularity since 2006 election
6,700 = total ballots cast in 2006 election
4,000 = total ballots cast yesterday
2,700 = decrease in ballots cast since 2006 election
43% = decrease in ballots cast between 2006 and 2010
48,718 = number of eligible Metis who did not vote yesterday
7.6% = percent of eligible voters who cast ballots yesterday
Note: We have been advised the "official" numbers will be released by Chief Electoral Officer Alvin Zivot on Monday of next week.
So Metis Members of Parliament Shelly Glover and Rod Bruinooge who were prevented from voting by overly restrictive advance polls, with these preliminary outstanding numbers are you still going to support giving the Chartrand adminstration millions and millions and millions more government taxpayer dollars?
Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

Metis Federation president re-elected
Friday, June 11, 2010
CBC News
David Chartrand has won a fifth-consecutive term as president of the Manitoba Metis Federation.
The 50-year-old incumbent defeated his only challenger, Frank Godon, 49, in a lopsided victory Thursday night.
Chartrand received 3,352 votes and Godon received 665.
More than 50,000 people were eligible to cast ballots for a President, seven Regional Vice-Presidents and a new Board of Directors of the Federation.
Just a small percentage of those people were expected to turn out on election day, but officials had conservatively predicted at least 5,000.
The 4,000 votes was a considerable drop from the 6,700 ballots cast in the last election in 2006.

uhm you have Winnipeg Free press but posted a CBC news release?????????
I guess "Les maudits couche-Metis" made their mark on the MMF election yesterday, eh? I feel a bit vindicated as I think my couches-Metis comments and my vote predictions were pretty bang-on.
Say, that was an interesting letter you posted from Mr. Trachtenberg. It seemed to say that the Court of Appeal dismissed your appeal, but you also said the hearing date was scheduled to be in August. Was the appeal moved to an earlier date? Or is the appeal date simply cancelled and you lose your appeal automatically because you didn't cough up the thousands? So does this mean you can't use the defence of truth now at your trial?
I guess jury nullification is your last hope now eh? I would think that your readers would be interested to hear your take on Mr. Trachtenberg's letter to the board.
