Is the MMF still relevant?

Good Day Folks:

Thank you to the anonymous reader who sent the following information. The letterhead was that of Chief Electoral Officer Alvin Zivot but the document was undated. It is titled, "Manitoba Metis Federation Inc. 2010 Election Unofficial List of Results."

While not the "official" results we've assumed it's not likely to change significantly. Here's what jumped out:

(1) a total of 14,489 ballots were cast by 4,830 voters. Since each person could vote for President, Vice-President and their Regional Board of Directors the total was divided by 3. The number of eligible voters was 52,718 - that’s a 9% turnout rate

(2) 4 out of 7 Regional Vice-Presidents and 2 Regional Board of Directors won by acclamation

(3) there were 9,815 more eligible voters in 2010 than 2006

(4) 2, 213 fewer voters cast ballots for the position of President (6,794 in 2006 versus 4,581 in 2006)

(5) David Chartrand’s vote total fell by 463 (4,244 in 2006 versus 3,781 in 2010)

Or as host Ray St. Germain used to say on the MMF fiananced Metis Music Hour (NCI Radio), "This program is sponsored by the Manitoba Metis Federation representing all Manitoba Metis."

God we hope he's still not using that line!
