The "Clown Prince of Capital Hill!"

Anthony Weiner just hanging out!
Appalled Obama put an end to Weiner's attempt to stay in Congress: book

President Obama was willing to put up with a lot of Anthony Weiner’s antics — the bad boy congressman’s sexting with women he never met, tweeting pics of his own penis, and acid tongue.

But the White House finally got fed up when reports emerged that the politician was in contact with an underage girl.

According to a new book, the cold shoulder from the White House was the beginning of the end of Weiner’s career in Congress.

“We were willing to stand by him before, but I don’t see how we can do it any longer,” White House Political Director Patrick Gaspard is quoted as telling Weiner’s advisers.
With that, Weiner — who thought he could weather the scandal that started when he accidentally tweeted a crotch shot — lost his trademark bravado.

“I just can’t figure out what I should do,” Weiner told advisers.

The book, “Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the US House of Representatives,” by journalist Robert Draper, is scheduled to be released Tuesday. The Post obtained a copy yesterday.

Eventually, the author writes, Weiner’s confessions started with his wife, Huma Abedin, who had been willing to believe his hacking claim.

Sources told Draper that House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi “was furious [at Weiner] and instructed him to come completely clean.”

And Draper says the final confession was made to Senator Chuck Schumer, Weiner’s political mentor.

“When he told the truth, . . . both men began to cry,” according to the book.

A couple of months later, Draper writes, Weiner was just a regular guy at a Brooklyn barbecue making jokes about what had happened.

Huma was telling people at the gathering “how she had not been displaying the usual signs of pregnancy — no morning sickness, no hunger pangs. ‘Yeah,’ Weiner could not resist interjecting. ‘But she’s been really angry at her husband the last two months.’ ”

Beyond the sexting scandal, Draper paints a picture of Weiner as a profane, nasty congressman he calls the “clown prince of Capitol Hill.”
