Have you ever heard of anything so ....ing stupid?

Good Day Readers:

When you first begin to listen to the conversation you think they've got to be  joking but apparently not. The Harper government may cut the RCMP's Musical Ride budget because it's costing too much money to keep the horses - seriously! The plan would be to replace it with a "Musical Walk."

Can you imagine the officers prancing around in exact, intricate formations wearing sexy little crimson red tutus and slippers riding fake horses? Isn't that something best left to the Royal Ballet of Canada?

Remember when Jean Chretien was Prime Minister and he too tried to eliminate the Musical Ride. Canadians sure didn't waste any time telling him where he could stick that idea. So the Harper government wants to cut the horses out eh? What about this approach?

How much money must be cut? Alright, the salaries and benefits packages of all Members of Parliament and Senators will be cut by 30% effective immediately. Still need to save more? Cabinet Ministers lose their drivers and limousines and will now travel by taxis. How we doing? Still need more? O K then sell those remaining Challenger jets and that Air Harper jet all parliamentarians now travel commercial economy class. That ought to do it.

Sincerely,
Clare L. Pieuk

According to commander Scott, the Musical walk will have the same routines as the Musical Ride, the only difference is they will be done without horses. (CP Images)

The Musical Ride of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is a long and beloved national tradition. However, after the most recent round of federal cuts, the RCMP announced that it may soon be forced to dramatically change this iconic tradition.

"The horses are the most expensive element of the Ride,"Deputy Commander Don Scott

"We would never cut the Musical Ride all together," says Deputy Commander Don Scott. "We know people love seeing Mounties make formations. So as an alternative, we will simply remove the horses and have our officers walk in patterns."

Pat Kelly spoke with Commander Scott to learn more about how the "Musical Walk" will work.
